As the Royal Commission into Misconduct in the Banking, Superannuation and Financial Services Industry returns for it’s third season, Outsider grabs the popcorn to watch the plot thicken.

ANZ’s Ben Steinberg is on the grill as it’s revealed the bank sent a default notice to a farmer just less than a month after he suffered a heart attack.

It’s at this stage Outsider recalls Steinberg telling the commission in his earlier submission that the bank’s treatment of the Harley family did not fall below community standards. Outsider can’t help but wonder just how low that bar goes if that’s the case.

Outsider pops the 3-D glasses on as Rowena Orr continues to “out” the bank for its poor communication processes with loan customers until Steinberg concedes “it’s fair to say” they weren’t the most ethical bunch.

Outsider resolves to turn off the telly and go for a run. After all, he’s got a loan, enjoys a steak and a whiskey neat, and now can’t afford to have a heart attack.
