When it comes to human interest stories, the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority is keen to let the organisations it regulates know its staff are more than just faceless automatons.

First there was deputy chair Margaret Cole who detailed how she enjoyed spending time with her dog Elgin and her horse Liam.

This was coincidentally the name of one of Money Management’s most-recent alumni and Outsider gave him a fair bit of ribbing in the office for that one.

Now executive board members Suzanne Smith and Therese McCarthy, who took over their roles in October 2022, have shared their love of running.

The duo spoke to the regulator about how running had boosted their mental and physical wellbeing. There was even an APRA running club and a charity fitness challenge with 160 APRA staff.

Looks like the pair really are ‘running ahead of risk’, as the pun-worthy headline on the bio puts it.
