For all that junk worth bidding for, catch these worthwhile auctions
The FPA Melbourne chapter charity auction is on again.
The FPA Melbourne chapter charity auction is on again.
It is time to drag out all those embarrassing items of yesteryear and watch peo-ple pay a fortune to become the proud owner of an OST badge.
The charity auctions have been steadily growing, with $10,000 raised at last year's luncheon.
Melbourne chapter chief barker Rod North is collecting items for this year's event and already highlights include a few more sets of GEMopoly, a framed front page of The Herald dated October 19, 1987 signed by financial guru Terry McCrann and some more OST memorabilia.
North says fraternal stuff is easy to pick up as there is lots in junk shops. The older friendly society badges are well-worth looking for as they are made of sterling silver.
"We are also trying to get a copy of Terry Power's pharmacy diploma as another star item," North says.
There will be some sporting memorabilia for auction on the day, but the Mel-bourne Chapter needs more to beat last year's total.
Anybody with something to put in the auction should contact Rod North on 03 9934 5520 or 014 670 706.
The auction will be held on December 7 at No.9 Darling Street reception rooms in South Yarra. All monies raised will go to the Smith Family.
