Professional Financial Services appoints new principal

Adrian McGarva, a fellow at the Institute of Actuaries of Australia, has been appointed a principal at independent financial services firm Professional Financial Services.

He has over 15 years experience working in the general insurance markets of Australia, the UK and Switzerland, including a period spent as chief actuary of the Glacier Group.

During his tenure at Glacier, McGarva was responsible for the company's pricing, reserving, risk management, strategy and capital adequacy functions, including for its international specialty insurance and reinsurance portfolios.

Prior to this, he served as an actuary with the Benfield Group in Sydney, focussing on the analysis and reinsurance of property, casualty and specialty portfolios.
