Amanda Skelly heads up State Street's Australian ETF business

With plans to build its exchange-traded fund (ETF) capabilities in Australia, State Street Global Advisers (SSgA) has appointed Amanda Skelly as head of SPDR ETFs.
She will manage the business strategy and product development in the region while promoting ETF products to both retail and institutional investors.
From late 2009 to July 2012, Skelly was director of Russell Investments' Australian ETF business.
Before that, she worked in various business and product roles at ING Australia, Insurance Australia Group and Morgan Stanley.
In targeting institutional opportunities, SSgA has also announced that Shaun Parkin has taken up the role of business development manager for wholesale ETF sales.
Reporting to Skelly, he will work closely with the institutional business development team covering small institutions, multi-managers, insurers and platforms.
He was previously national sales manager of portfolio services for Lonsec and has worked for Shaw Stockbroking, ICAP and JP Morgan.
"In Australia we are seeing increasing appetite for simple, transparent, cost-efficient investments that are managed by a reliable institution," SSgA's head of SPDR ETFs for Asia-Pacific Frank Henze said.
"This demand is particularly strong in the expanding self-managed super fund sector," he said.
