Western Australian-based stockbroking outfit Sentinel Stockbroking has sought to make a further play into the eastern states with a key appointment in its Sydney office.

The privately owned and operated Sentinel has appointed former E*Trade senior relationship manager Anthony Pannell as its state manager for NSW.

Pannell was senior relationship manager at E*TRADE for its wholesale stockbroking and margin lending division, prior to which he held positions at Barclays Global Investors, Challenger and St George Bank.

Commenting on the appointment, Sentinel chief executive Norman Robinson said that with company's head office based in Perth but with continual strong growth on the west coast, Sentinel had sought to bolster its national presence by the recent opening of its Sydney office and the appointment of Pannell.

He said Pannell's focus would include Sentinel's flagship product Managed Share Portfolio, which offers advisers, financial planners and accountants professional management of their client's stockmarket investment needs with no workload and complete transparency.
