Non-aligned female financial planners are receiving bigger pay packets and are reaching the top pay bracket unlike their aligned colleagues, according to the Money Management Salary Survey.

The survey found overall, non-aligned female planners made more with the highest number of planners at 24 per cent sitting in the $90,000-$109,999 pay bracket.

This is in comparison to the highest aligned planner percentage of 28 per cent in the $70,000-$89,999 bracket.

The data also showed that one non-aligned respondent claimed to receive $500,000 a year, whereas the highest pay packet for an aligned respondent was $300-000-$499,999.

Overall, female financial planners were earning less than their male counterparts with almost two-thirds earning less than $110,000, and 43 per cent saying they earned less than $90,000.

Only 28 per cent of male financial planners said they earned less than $90,000, with the highest percentage of male planners (22 per cent) reporting they earned $90,000 - $109,999.

The data found the highest number of female planners (25 per cent) said they took home $70,000 - $89,999 a year.
