Climbing every mountain

Anyone who really knows Outsider knows that he limits his physical exertion to around 9000 metres a week. For the uninitiated, that equates to nine holes every Friday and 18 holes every Sunday, though he sometimes extends that to 12,000 metres if a prestige golf course is on offer.

This will explain why Outsider struggles to understand why people like GFM Wealth Advisory’s Tony Gilham opt for more physically demanding challenges, especially when those challenges seem to preclude a delightful beverage at the 19th hole.

Outsider has discovered that young Gilham is about to climb Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro in support of the Leukaemia Foundation after having trekked to the Everest Base Camp nearly three years ago.

Tony tells Outsider that climbing up Kilimanjaro is a tougher challenge than his Everest Base Camp trek and your elderly correspondent is prepared to believe him and may even forego a couple of drinks at the golf club to support him.

Gilham has set his fund raising target at $10,000 and he’s not looking for big commitments, just modest commitments from plenty of people.

If you want to support Tony, visit this web address: leukaemia.org.au

At the very least, Outsider will be raising a glass to Gilham at the 19th hole. Maybe even two glasses. Trekking around a golf course can be thirsty work.
