Clarke makes a statement for the win

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS
WINNER
Danielle Clarke - Communications manager
UniSuper
The genuine curiosity and passion for her work to improve member outcomes has placed Danielle Clarke as the front runner for marketing and communications.
The winner of the category in Money Management and Super Review's Women in Financial Services Awards has led UniSuper's communications team in a number of initiatives, including a new retirement calculator, video member statement snapshots, as well as piloting retirement projections on member statements.
The judges found Clarke's video member statement snapshot initiative to be a standout in the industry.
"Great client centricity as exemplified through the creation of personalised video statements for UniSuper's 100,000 members," they said.
Clarke said she has been lucky to have found herself in a spot where her curiosity and passion
is encouraged.
"When I have whacky ideas, my manager is very supportive of us to explore those. My overarching philosophy is simple and transparent communications, and to put members' needs first," she said.
"It's my job to be the person that lobbies for member needs and my team of seven is amazing. I love being able to combine creativity and my love of words with more black and white logical mathematical material."
Clarke said she is constantly looking for new avenues for how to achieve member outcomes more effectively.
"I am a passionate advocate for our members in trying to improve their outcomes. I have a particular heart for women and retirement adequacy, and financial literacy for women," she said.
"I've been at Unisuper for over four years and there has only been a handful of days when I haven't wanted to come in."
Clarke has worked in communications for 18 years and has previously worked for Mercer, Auspoll, and South East Water.
The judges found finalist BT Financial Group's Amanda Campos Pascall's work to be of great achievement.
"Amanda's work, which aligned BT Life Insurance with Westpac Life Save Rescue Helicopters, enhanced the revenues of the business while generating in excess of $100,000 for chopper services across Australia," they said.
