Technology aversion costly for SMSF providers
Self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) accountants who fail to adopt cloud-based technology "may not have a business" in the next few years, according to an SMSF software provider.
Responding to a report about accountants' sluggish uptake of online solutions, Class Super CEO David Smith said technology-reticent businesses are putting more than their competitive advantage at stake.
He said clients were beginning to expect the real-time operating system efficiency and it would be up to accountants to catch up.
In terms of the attitudes of SMSF accountants, Smith said it was apparent from in-house research that there was a "general lessening of concern".
It follows an Investment Trends/ OneVue report earlier in the week that showed just one in five SMSF accountants offered real time online solutions, but one in four would reconsider if they were given data security assurance.
