SMSF auditors on deadline to lodge annual statements

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) has issued a statement reminding self-managed superannuation fund (SMSF) auditors that they are now required to lodge their annual SMSF auditor statement.
The regulator said the requirement became effective for all approved and suspected SMSF auditors from 31 January.
The ASIC statement said all SMSF auditors had to lodge their annual statement within 30 days of their registration anniversary date.
"To prepare SMSF auditors to complete their first annual statement, we are also sending every SMSF auditor an introductory email up to six weeks before their annual statement is issued," it said.
"On your anniversary date, we will also send you a notice by email to advise you that your SMSF auditor annual statement is ready to be completed."
