Government dismantles super advisory bodies

The Federal Government has announced an end to three of the superannuation advisory bodies put in place by the former Labor Government.
The Assistant Treasurer, Senator Arthur Sinodinos, announced the move today saying the three non-statutory bodies were the SuperStream Advisory Council, Superannuation Advisory Committee and the Superannuation Roundtable.
He described the move as a "streamlining of the consultation arrangements", saying that with reforms to the superannuation sector in recent years largely implemented, the work of the bodies has also been completed. "Remaining issues are being taken up by forums chaired by the Australian Taxation Office (ATO)," he said.
