Paul Souter has been appointed head of strategy and distribution for UBS' direct-to-member superannuation platform.

Souter, who was formerly AustralianSuper's product manager — investments, will be responsible for developing the Platform Solutions Group offering by expanding its range of products and services and working closely with super fund clients, industry bodies and other key service providers.

With 12 years experience in financial services marketing and product and strategy development, he led the rollout of AustralianSuper's own direct-to-member offering in November 2011.

Souter will be based in Melbourne and will report directly to head of investment platforms Ian Dunbar.

UBS launched its investment solution in partnership with FNZ at the end of the May last year as a means of stemming the growth of the self-managed super fund market.
