Towers Watson has established an executive compensation business in Australia and has appointed former Deloitte Australia partner Jonathan Finlay to head up the team.

Finlay will lead a team of seven consultants, including Stephen Burke, who along with Finlay recently retired from Deloitte Australia as a partner.

Andrew Boal, managing director for Towers Watson in Australia, said there were significant opportunities in executive compensation consulting, and the new business would offer significant areas for future growth in Towers Watson's Australian operations.

According to Towers Watson, the Australian team also complements the existing strength of its executive compensation businesses across Asia and the world.

The team will offer services that include advice in the areas of board and executive pay and governance, regulatory compliance, Australian and global share plans, annual pay reviews and market benchmarking, the company stated.

Towers Watson currently has 400 executive compensation consultants located in 30 cities across the world.
