TAL Limited has added two new directors to its Board, with Roger Garrett and Japanese national Tatsuya Yasukawa joining on 1 August 2011.

Garrett spent the last 13 years as head of life for Munich Reinsurance Group, from 1997 until his retirement in early 2011.

He has a strong actuarial and re-insurance background, having previously worked at NZI Life and NZI Bank in New Zealand, before moving to Australia.

Yasukawa is presently managing director of TY Japan Consulting, a company he established in 2003 to provide corporate advisory and consulting services to Australian companies wanting to do business in Japan, and vice versa.

Yasukawa has spent a large part of his career in investment banking and has also had several years’ experience in property investment and development.

He has worked with the Industrial Bank of Japan (now Mizuho Bank) and SG Warburg (now UBS), both in London and Tokyo.

The new appointments bring the number of TAL's board members to 11, chaired by Rob Thomas.
