Software firm expands insurance sector

Software and processing solutions firm SunGard Australia has appointed Grant Ives for its newly created role of director insurance solutions.
The role comes as the firm looks to increase its focus on the local superannuation and insurance industries.
Ives said he is looking forward to closing the gap on some common vulnerabilities in the industries.
His most recent role was at OAMPS Insurance Brokers as its corporate branch manager.
Ives was previously at ING for 10 years in various roles, including regional manager, regional head of business development for Asia Pacific, and head of commerce for ING Insurance Central Europe.
He has also worked at AMP Financial Planning as head of segment, flexibility.
"The superannuation and insurance industry continues to grow, and forms the backbone of the Australian financial industry," Ives said.
"Yet there are many areas where technologies haven't kept pace with what's really needed to future-proof these firms and get their risk profiles right."
