Financial planning dealer group Snowball has made several appointments following its acquisition of portfolio construction business Officium Capital earlier in the year and subsequent changes to its model portfolios.

Ashleigh Nelson has been appointed as executive manager of strategy and mergers and acquisitions, reporting directly to Snowball managing director Tony McDonald.

Nelson previously worked in an advisory role with Macquarie Capital Advisers and most recently worked with Snowball on a contract basis helping with its acquisition of Officium Capital.

She will work closely with chief operating officer Carl Scarcella, who has been instrumental in driving Snowball’s mergers and acquisitions strategy.

Ash Wood has been promoted to group executive of business services, where he will be responsible for the smooth running of the group’s finance and administration.

Announcing the appointment, McDonald said Wood’s promotion would involve him taking on a more day-to-day role within the company.
