Sharyn Long to chair SPAA
The Self-Managed Super Fund Professionals’ Association of Australia (SPAA) has appointed current director Sharyn Long as its new chair.
Long’s appointment comes as SPAA prepares to enter its sixth year.
She succeeds Graeme Colley who oversaw the association’s rapid development and strong growth over the past two years. Colley continues in the capacity of vice-chair.
Long also chairs the recently formed Professional Standards Committee and is a member on the National Conference Committee.
Specialising in superannuation, Long has a string of accomplishments including playing an instrumental role in the development of the Self Managed Super Funds (SMSF) specialised auditor designation and code of professional conduct and also working with Australia’s Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AUASB) on the development of the guidance statement of auditing SMSFs.
Long is also founder of Sharyn Long Chartered Accountants in Western Australian, which she soon followed with a second office in Melbourne.
The accounting firm extends beyond SMSFs, also servicing larger corporate, industry and government funds.
