Rice Warner actuaries have appointed Mark Blair as a principal of the firm to head its superannuation consulting practice, to commence in early March.

Blair will be responsible for advising clients and growing the practice, the firm stated.

He has more than 20 years financial services experience for companies including Pillar, Russell and Towers Watson, in roles including client consulting, account management, product management and institutional sales and strategy.

The appointment is in response to growing demand from Rice Warner's superannuation clients, particularly in the areas of strategic advice and product development.

It is also part of an overall strategy for Rice Warner to expand its consulting services within the financial services sector, following the appointment of deputy chief executive Melissa Fuller, the firm stated.

Fuller is now responsible for strategy, marketing, and operations at Rice Warner, allowing chief executive Michael Rice to focus on expanding the business and public policy.

Rice Warner director Richard Weatherhead has built up the firm's life insurance practice and has now taken on the additional role of building the company's investment consulting practice, Rice Warner stated.

"Mark is an excellent addition to our strong team of superannuation consultants and will enhance Rice Warner's ability to service its clients at this time of regulatory turmoil," Rice said.
