Boutique investment managerPerennial Investment Partnershas appointed formerInvescohead of operations Lewis Bearman into the same role with the predominantly value-styled manager.

Bearman, who left Invesco earlier this month after 17 years with the group, held a variety of roles within the organisation including investment manager fixed interest and most recently head of operations.

Perennial executive chairman Mike Crivelli says the appointment coincides with the growth of the group, which is nearing the end of its fourth year since conception.

Crivelli considers Bearman to be “ideally qualified to lead operations forward as we grow and our organisation increases in complexity”.

Bearman will commence with Perennial at the start of next week and will be based in the group’s Melbourne office.

Bearman’s departure at Invesco has seen the role take on new meaning within the group, with the official title of chief operating officer being introduced for the first time.

Earlier this week Invesco announced the appointment of formerAXA Australiaand New Zealand chief investment officer John Nairn to the vacated role. Nairn now holds responsibility for the group’s operations, as well as finance, legal and compliance, human resources, information technology and business strategy.
