nabInvest boosts direct asset management business

Nick Basile has been appointed to the new role of investment director within the direct asset management business of National Australia Bank, nabInvest.

Basile was most recently the chief executive of Ascalon Capital Managers. His previous roles include general manager, investments and insurance, at St George Bank, head of Commonwealth Investment Management, executive director of investments for Legal & General Australia and investment manager and director for Lend Lease Investment Management.

Basile will now be responsible for continuing to grow the nabInvest business, which currently has funds under management of $19 billion. He will step into the role on February 16.

Following Basile’s departure from Ascalon Capital Managers in late December last year, Andrew Landman was appointed as chief executive of the part St George Bank-owned investment and capital provider. Landman stepped into the role last week.

Landman was most recently chief financial officer of funds management at Challenger.
