MLC appoints portfolio manager
MLC Investment Management has appointed Stuart Piper as a new portfolio manager with responsibility for MLC’s debt strategies and non-equity strategies.
He will replace Peter Summer, who had responsibility for MLC’s debt strategies since 2000.
Piper will play an important role in setting asset allocation and the strategic overlay of MLC’s long-term absolute return strategy.
Piper was the head of Asia Pacific fixed income at UBS, before being promoted to head of fixed income for Pan Europe and Asia Pacific. He was head of Australian fixed interest at UBS Global Asset Management from 1985 to 2000, and was the portfolio manager of the MLC mandate during that period. He most recently worked at UBS in Hong Kong.
Summer will now assume the primary portfolio management responsibility for Australian equities.
