Former Westpac commercial banking executive Mark Paton has joined fixed-income specialist FIIG Securities as chief executive.

For the past five years Paton has been the Victorian state general manager for Westpac's commercial banking business and, before that, held senior management roles at ANZ, including group managing director - corporate division and managing director - global transaction services.
FIIG chairman Douglas Bates said Paton is highly regarded for his customer-centred leadership and has a strong reputation for building high performing businesses through the development of strong teams.
Paton - who will also join FIIG's board of directors - said he was focussed on driving the company into the next phase of growth and on introducing the fixed interest asset class to a broader ranger of investors.
FIIG stated that it currently holds more than $8 billion in term deposits under advice in its short-term money market business.
