Australian Skandia distribution chief Charles Magro has been named as a director of the business as it moves to implement “a unique business development model”.

Magro joined the group at the start of the year, after seven years with Advance Bank, most recently as national sales manager. He became head of distribution in August, and has 22 years experience in sales distribution roles.

Magro says Skandia's business development model is implemented in 23 countries and is characterised by not buying distribution. Australian Skandia will be no different, with all the business done through independent financial planners.

Product development is also a key area for Magro.

"We are very globally focused and very technologically focused," he says. Australian Skandia has developed an e-commerce platform dealing with online applications for independent financial advisers.
