Magellan appoints non-executive director
Magellan has appointed Colette Garnsey to the board as a non-executive director, joining the audit and risk committee, and the remuneration and nominations committee.
The appointment comes following news earlier this month that the firm had only one female director on its board, below the 30% target and one of the lowest in the ASX 200.
Garnsey was an order of Australia recipient, and had over 40 years’ experience in retail, marketing and distribution.
She was currently chair of Australian Wool Innovation Limited, appointed on 18 November, 2011, and had been chair since 9 November, 2018.
Hamish Douglass, Magellan chair, said: “Her established experience in a wide range of executive and advisory roles will bring a fresh perspective to the board as Magellan continues to grow and evolve”.
Garnsey had previously held senior positions with David Jones, Pacific Brands and Premier Investments.
She had also held directorial and advisory positions for the CSIRO, Australian Government Innovation Council, Federal Trade and Investment Ministers, Australian Fashion Week and the Melbourne Fashion Festival.
