JANA announces slew of hires and promotions

JANA Investment Advisers has made several internal promotions and new appointments across its research team to bolster its position in the market.
According to the investment consultant’s chief executive Georgina Dudley, the range of appointments reflects the firm’s strategic growth vision.
“By investing in our people and expanding our leadership capabilities, we’re ensuring that JANA remains at the forefront of delivering innovative, high-quality research and advice across all asset classes,” Dudley said.
“This is an exciting time for JANA as we continue to grow our presence in the market and reinforce our position as trusted advisers to some of Australia’s largest institutional investors.”
Namely, JANA confirmed four promotions and role transitions. Matthew Gadsden, who is a senior consultant and head of JANA’s global equities research team, has been appointed to the newly created head of research execution position. This role focuses on driving efficiency and enhancing cross-functional collaboration across investment-facing areas of the business.
Justin Tay, who is also a senior consultant, has taken up the head of global equities research position from Gadsden. Tay brings more than seven years of experience at the company to his new role.
JANA’s head of debt, Robert Moore, will continue in his current position and will also assume the position of research lead for sub-investment grade debt to support the rising client interest in this area.
Finally, senior consultant Martin Rea has been promoted to the position of investment grade debt lead where he will lead the firm’s cash and diversified fixed interest advice and solutions.
Looking into JANA’s new appointments, the firm welcomed Victoria Hugh as a senior product manager to bolster its leadership in investment trusts. She joins from Mayflower Consulting and previously spent seven years at Mercer.
Meanwhile, Stephanie O’Brien has joined as a senior consultant in the property research team, James Leos has commenced as a senior consultant in the private equity research team, and Tina Nguyen joins as a consultant in the infrastructure research team.
O’Brien joins from EY where she worked as an associate director, Leos joins from Breakthrough Victoria and previously spent 14 years at IFM Investors, and Nguyen joins from transport logistics firm Pacific National.
In late 2024, JANA hired a general manager of technology and data in Enda Mahoney. He joined from Ignition Advice where he worked as chief platform and technology officer designing a low-cost advice platform for global clients. Prior to this, he spent five years as chief information and technology officer at Mason Stevens.
Dudley commented at the time: “Enda’s proven track record in delivering high-impact platforms and driving technology transformations is exactly what JANA needs at this stage of our growth. His experience in building scaleable, secure technology environments will allow us to deliver greater value to clients and reinforce our commitment to innovation in the asset consulting space.”
