Garvey joins Investor Financial Planning
InvestorFinancial Planning, a division of Investor Group, has raised the seniority of its corporate team with the appointment of Anthony Garvey as technical and research manager.
Investor Financial Planning chief executive officer Tim Townsend says the departure of the group’s existing research co-ordinator created the opportunity to scale up the experience within the four-person team.
“The appointment of Garvey has increased the capability of the corporate team without increasing the numbers,” he says.
Townsend says Investor Group has prided itself on the conservative growth of its corporate team. However, as it has grown, it has recognised the opportunities in taking greater control of internal research.
Garvey is the former Lonsdale Securities (Lonsec) managed funds research head and has significant industry experience. During six years with Lonsec, he was in charge of a team of fund research professionals producing the Lonsec managed funds offering, including a recommended list of 400 funds, assessment of a range of managed funds products and model portfolios for financial planners.
Garvey will work alongside Townsend assisting with the development and implementation of financial planning processes and strategies across the group.
Garvey’s previous roles include five years with Prudential Bache Securities, most recently as financial planning research manager. Prior to that Garvey worked for dealer group Financial Wisdom.
