A new head of wholesale and a national account manager have joined the ranks of Fidelity Worldwide Investment's Australian team.

Driving the development of the wholesale funds business through banks, insurance companies and financial advisers, Nick McDowell will also provide leadership to the wholesale sales team and have account responsibilities for some of the fund manager's largest clients.

He was recently Fidelity's national account director and previously held senior positions at BT Investment Management and Westpac.

Taking up the national account manager position is Mark Jordan, who was previously portfolio specialist equities at Perpetual Investment Management.

McDowell reports to Gerard Doherty, managing director of Fidelity in Australia, who said the industry is currently "emerging from a difficult time and refocusing on growth".

According to Fidelity, the past year has seen the company increase its funds under management by more than 20 per cent to over $10 billion in its Australian, global and Asian capabilities.
