Equity Trustees Limited has appointed Anne O'Donnell as non-executive chairman of its superannuation business.

She takes over from Rob Dillon who recently announced his retirement as both chairman and as a director of Equity Trustees Superannuation (ETSL).

As the founder of Wealthpac Master Fund, he became managing director of the combined Equity Trustees and Wealthpac business following Wealthpac's acquisition in 2003. He has been acting chairman for the past six years.

With 32 years' experience in the finance sector, O'Donnell was previously managing director of Australian Ethical Investment, as well as a director of the Financial Services Council and The Centre of Australian Ethical Research.

Equity Trustees has also announced the retirement of Adrian Young as managing director of ETSL.

The board changes form part of a review of the structure and strategy of the super business, Equity Trustees managing director Robin Burns said.

"I announced a few months ago our intention to restructure our business so that ETSL becomes part of a broader 'private wealth services' business, along with our private client trustee, wealth management and aged care advisory activities, and the appointment of Anne as chair of ETSL is an important step in this restructure," he said.
