Count Financial has appointed Jeremy Wardell as the inaugural chief executive of its accountant based, wealth-creation business countplus, ahead of its planned acquisitions drive for accountancy firms.

Wardell will be responsible for “overseeing the acquisitions process as well as developing the countplus model” on taking over the reins of countplus in mid-August, according to Count Financial managing director Barry Lambert.

He said Wardell’s “strong acquisitions background, including, most recently, a senior acquisitions role with ING Australia, would be invaluable in countplus recruiting quality accounting businesses.

“Countplus will begin to acquire accounting firms later this year, and we believe Jeremy’s hands-on experience and technical expertise will aid this process.”

Wardell will also be “integral to developing a best practice accounting franchise to roll out to our existing Count franchisees and accountants in general”, Lambert said.
