Colonial First State Global Asset Management (CFSGAM) has managed to recruit industry veteran David Wilson to the new role of Head of Research for the Australian Equities, Growth team.

It said Wilson would take up his new role on 18 May.

Wilson was recruited from UBS where he was described as having multiple roles in research and sales.

Commenting on the appointment, CFSGAM head of Australian Equities, Marcus Fanning, said a critical factor in the ongoing success and continued growth of the global business was ensuring that its capabilities and the culture within its investment teams were of the highest quality and relevance to clients.

"We decided to formalise the role of Head of Research for the Australian Equities, Growth, team to oversee our intensive research process which is a key point of differentiation, and after an extensive recruiting process I am pleased to announce that David has accepted the position," Fanning said.

He said Wilson would be working closely with CFSGAM's research analysts and it was expected that his strong modelling skill set would only enhance the company's capability in this field.
