CFSGAM appoints senior analyst
Colonial First State Global Asset Management (CFSGAM) has hired a new senior analyst within its global resources team, who will focus primarily on the soft commodities sector.
Mario Maia joins CFSGAM from Merrill Lynch Australia, where he held roles as research vice president (chemicals, paper and packaging, and agriculture sectors) and research associate (metals, steel and building materials).
Prior to joining Merrill Lynch, Maia worked at a Sydney based boutique brokerage house as a research analyst for the small caps team covering resources, energy and metals.
His appointment was announced by Dr Joanne Warner, CFSGAM’s head of global resources, who said Maia would be a valuable addition to the team at a time when investor demand for soft commodities is rising.
The global resources team manages three funds: Global Soft Commodity Share Fund, the Wholesale Global Resources Fund and the Wholesale Global Resources Long Short Fund.
