BNP Paribas’ Baker poached by Mercer
BNP Paribas Securities Services head of Australia and New Zealand Peter Baker has resigned after being poached by Mercer Sentinel.
Sources close to BNP Paribas confirmed Baker decided to take the position of head of Mercer Sentinel despite BNP Paribas' best efforts to keep him in the firm.
Money Management understands Baker was in talks with BNP Paribas for a while as the firm tried to keep him on but Baker decided to take the new position.
The firm said it was sad to see Baker go.
BNP Paribas will conduct an internal and external search in Australia and globally to fill the position.
It said it has some good internal candidates in mind but will be benchmarking the market before finalising a replacement.
The firm also said BNP Paribas head of client development Charley Cock will be heading to Sydney to stress that it is business as usual for the firm.
