Barclays Global Investors (BGI) has appointed Will Britton as the new chief executive of its Australian business.

Britton succeeds Morry Waked, who took on the role of global head and chief investment officer for BGI’s global active equity business earlier this year.

Since joining BGI Australia in 1997, Britton has spent three years in BGI’s US office and on his return to Australia in 2004 became head of distribution for the business, during which time he played a key leadership role in successfully building both the institutional and intermediary distribution channels.

Britten has been a managing director of BGI for over four years and a member of BGI Australia’s senior executive team.

Katherine Allchin will succeed Britton as head of distribution for BGI Australia.
