AXA has poached the head of independent adviser sales at St George, Paul Robertson, to head up theAXA Financial Planningbusiness.

The previous head of the division, Robert Switkowski, has left the company by mutual agreement, says AXA dealer group’s national manager Andrew Waddell.

“Robert spent 18 months looking after an internal project, as well as running AXA Financial Planning and the Victorian operations,” Waddell says.

“The project is past the conceptual plan and a state manager has been appointed for Victoria, so Robert was happy to move on and do other things outside the company.”

In a break from the past, Robertson will be based in Sydney. Previously all of AXA’s dealer groups were run from Melbourne.

“It will complement our decentralised adviser support model. AXA already has a significant adviser presence in NSW and the market there presents excellent opportunities for our business in the future,” Waddell says.

Prior to working at St George, Robertson, who starts at AXA later this month, was national manager dealer groups for Sealcorp with responsibility forSecuritorandPactdealer businesses.

He was previously at National Mutual for 15 years working in distribution, financial planning, client and information services until 1996.
