AXA Investment Managers (AXA IM) has appointed former Mercer global chief investment officer Tim Gardener to head its global consultant relations unit.

Gardener will report to the global head of distribution and member of the AXA IM management board, Jon Bailie, and he takes on the London-based role later this year.

Gardener had 33 years experience at Mercer, and had extensive experience in the pensions and investment consulting business and Australian superannuation funds, an AXA announcement stated.

The group stated that his new role would focus on strengthening AXA IM’s interactions with consultants across all asset classes and geographies.
