Sam Berridge will take on the position of equities analyst with Perennial Value Management's smaller companies team in Sydney, after working for the company as a broker analyst.

Berridge will take over responsibility for covering small cap resource stocks, making the most of experience as a metals and mining analyst at the Royal Bank of Scotland in Sydney.

Perennial Value managing director John Murray said Berridge had built an outstanding reputation in just four years in the industry, drawing on tertiary qualifications in geology, and hands-on experience in the mining sector in Australia and West Africa.

"His appointment adds considerable depth to our research capabilities and will further enhance our capacity to deliver outperformance for our clients," Murray said.

Berridge was named Starmine's 2011 top Australian metals and mining analyst, having gained mining experience with companies such as Equigold and Jindalee Resources across key commodities including gold, nickel, iron and uranium.

He said that in his previous capacity as a Perennial Value broker analyst he had prior experience with the team, and held their investment capabilities and client results in high regard.

"I am looking forward to being an integral part of the team and making a significant contribution to its ongoing success," he said.

Berridge has a Bachelor of Science, majoring in geology and chemistry, and a postgraduate honours degree in geochemistry from the University of Western Australia. He also has a graduate diploma in applied finance and investment.
