Global X ETFs has appointed Evan Metcalf as its new chief executive.

The firm was formerly known as ETF Securities until the acquisition by Global X ETFs and Mirae Asset earlier this year.

Metcalf had worked at ETF Securities as head of product since 2015.

The firm was previously led by Kris Walesby as chief executive until he was made redundant in October 2020 and the role was taken over by founder Graham Tuckwell as executive chairman.

Luis Berruga, chief executive of Global X ETFs, said: “We have the utmost confidence that Evan’s previous success and expertise in this market will help to advance our goals here in Australia as we look to create opportunities for our clients and expand our offering, creating an Australian ETF powerhouse”.

Metcalf said: “I’m delighted to be stepping into this role, having worked across a range of international financial services roles for over 20 years.

“I look forward to partnering with all areas of the Global X global business to drive further growth and bring more products to Australia building on our global heritage and strong investor-centric approach.”
