Assirt names Ibbetson as new head of research
The former head of implemented consulting atJANA Investment Advisers, Simon Ibbetson, has been named as the new head ofAssirt Research.
Ibbetson takes over the role vacated by Caroline Saunders three weeks ago when St George announced it would move Assirt from Sealcorp into its Investment Centre of Excellence (ICE).
In doing so Assirt has shifted its reporting lines from Sealcorp’s managing director Ian Knox to St George head of investments and insurance Nick Basile.
Ibbetson starts in the role from today and has been working in financial services for 25 years. Prior to working at JANA he was head of investment consulting forAon Consulting Australia.
Originally hailing from the UK he moved to Australia 13 years ago but previously he worked with investment and insurance organisations in the UK in technical sales and sales training roles, servicing financial intermediaries and asset consultants.
His appointment follows on from St George moving to reassure fund managers about the role and place of Assirt Research in the group, saying the ratings process would remain unchanged.
At a meeting two weeks ago Basile told fund managers Assirt would not change its process nor would it make any further changes to key roles in the group apart from the departure of Saunders.
That move come as a counterpoint to the recent additions of Kathleen Cave as head of ratings, Julie Orr in the area of the group’s quarterly market share report and Leanne Taylor in asset allocation, who all joined in April this year.
