ANZ ETFS Management appoint new head

ANZ's exchange traded funds business with ETF Securities, ANZ ETFS Management (AUS) Limited, has appointed a new head.
The big banking group announced yesterday that it had appointed Kris Walesby as Head of ANZ ETFS, effective from 10 October — something which will see Walesby relocate to Sydney from London, where he has worked in exchange traded funds for the last nine years.
Walesby joins ANZ ETFS Management from Invesco Powershares where he was Head of Capital Markets for Europe, the Middle East and Africa with responsibilities for distribution.
The announcement said Walesby would focus on building on the successful launch of the partnership and delivering more choice and greater access to ETFs for Australian investors.
It said Walesby's appointment followed the departure of Danny Laidler, ANZ ETFS Co-head and Head of Distribution, and Adam Smith, ANZ ETFS Co-head and Chief Operating Officer, who will be departing at the end of September.
It said both men had played a role in setting up the joint venture and ensuring the first suite of products was successfully launched on the Australian Securities Exchange.
Commenting on the appointment, ETF Securities chairman and founder, Graham Tuckwell said he believed the firm was fortunate to have found an experienced person to take on the role.
"We believe his deep knowledge of the ETF market and understanding of investors' needs will be instrumental in further expanding the scope of our partnership with ANZ," he said.
