ANZ appoints former Citigroup executive
ANZ has secured former Citigroup chief executive, global transaction services Asia Pacific and corporate bank Australia/New Zealand, Shayne Elliott as its group managing director, institutional.
Elliott will be responsible for ANZ’s institutional banking division globally, including relationship banking, global markets, transaction banking and specialised lending and balance sheet management.
During his 20 years at Citigroup, Elliot held senior roles in Egypt, New York, London and New Zealand.
He was also previously head of business development at EFG-Hermes.
Elliott takes the reigns from Alex Thursby, who has been acting in the role since August 2008 and who will continue his permanent full-time role as chief executive Asia Pacific, which includes geographic responsibility for Europe and America.
Elliott's position will take effect in June 2009.
