AMP taps Mercer exec for strategic partnerships role
AMP has named John Allmey as national manager, strategic partnerships, effective on 9 December.
Allmey brings over two decades of experience to the role, having most recently served as the strategic relationships leader, Pacific - wealth management, at Mercer Australia.
The appointment followed the sale of BT Investment Solutions (BTIS)/Advance Asset Management business to Mercer, alongside a transaction with the BT Super business’s successor fund transfer into the Mercer Super Trust, in April last year.
Prior to this, Allmey was with BT for over six years and was the head of key accounts at BTIS/Advance Asset Management for eight years.
Before the merger of St George Bank and Westpac in December 2008, when Advance became part of the BT Financial Group, Allmey led key accounts for almost 17 years.
His specialities include key relationship sourcing and maintenance, project management, investments, marketing management, and product management.
In the new role, Allmey will oversee a continued focus on growth of the AMP Super Fund.
Commenting on the appointment, Briony Barclay-Ridge, AMP general manager for workplace solutions, superannuation and investments, said she was thrilled to welcome him to the fold.
“We are thrilled to welcome John to the team, as AMP Super continues to bolster its focus on growth,” Barclay-Ridge said.
“John brings over 25 years of experience in institutional sales and we’re confident that his extensive knowledge and deep industry relationships will be instrumental in delivering on our strategy."
Sharing the news on LinkedIn, Allmey said he was excited to join the AMP team.
“After a combined 22+ years working across the BT Financial Group and more recently Mercer Australia, I am excited to begin the next chapter in my career helping Australians achieve better retirement outcomes as national manager strategic partnerships at AMP Super. Looking forward to making a difference!” he wrote.
Earlier this year, AMP also announced a newly created role of retirement solutions, appointing former Aware Super executive Estelle Liu to the position in AMP’s platforms business.
As North – AMP’s wrap investment platform – continues to enhance its retirement capability, Liu is tasked with driving and accelerating its next growth phase.
