AMP director of financial planning advice solutions, Steve Helmich, has been elected to the Financial Planning Standards Board (FPSB) for a four-year term.
Helmich has over 35 years’ experience in the financial services industry, including a track record of introducing a financial planning model in a large-firm setting in Australia, FPSB board chairperson Corinna Dieters said.
“Considering that the majority of the world’s CFP professionals work within large financial services firms, Steve will be able to guide the FPSB’s standards of professionalism and serve the broader market’s need for financial planning delivered by competent and ethical financial planners,” Dieters said.
Helmich is responsible for all of AMP’s person-to-person financial planning licensees, which includes almost 700 CFP professionals.
He was also chair of the Financial Planning Association board from 2002 to 2004.
