Alex Francois joins William Blair

William Blair & Company has appointed Alex Francois as head of Australia and New Zealand institutional distribution based in Sydney.

Francois has more than 20 years experience working with institutional investors and was Provident Capital's head of distribution-investments for the last two years.

Before that, he was managing director, head of sales and marketing for Principal Global Investors Australia, where he led the relaunch of the business in Australia following the sale of BT to Westpac.

He has also worked in senior roles at Schroder Investment Management Australia, Deutsche Asset Management and ING New Zealand.

"Alex has a proven track record of leading investment management businesses in the Australian market and we are extremely pleased that he has joined our team," Michelle Seitz, head of William Blair Investment Management, said.
