VGI Partners completes merger with Regal Funds Management
VGI Partners Global Investments Limited has announced the completion of the merger between VGI Partners Limited and Regal Funds Management.
The investment firms had announced their agreement to merge on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) in January with the proposed merger remaining subject to each business completing confirmatory due diligence, negotiation of terms and final board approvals.
Shareholders voted overwhelmingly in support of the merger in May with almost 100% supporting the deal, aided by VGI executive chairman, Robert Luciano, already holding majority ownership of Regal.
The entity was named Regal Partners Limited and would be led by Regal chief executive Brendan O’Connor.
Robert Luciano had resigned as chairman and director but would remain as chief investment officer for VGI Partners investment team. Michael Cole, Sarah Dulhunty and Ian Gibson were appointed as new directors while David Jones had transitioned from executive director to non-executive director.
Darren Steinberg and Benjamin Pronk had resigned as directors.
