Ahead of an upcoming fund launch focusing on mid-caps, OC Funds Management has welcomed a new portfolio manager to its investment team.

The boutique Australian equities manager has appointed Nga Lucas to its investment team as a portfolio manager for the new OC Mid-Cap Fund.

Rob Frost, head of investments at OC Funds Management, told Money Management that the retail product has not been launched to the market yet.

Lucas’ leadership will be crucial in shaping the fund’s investment strategy. She will work alongside Frost, portfolio manager Stephen Evans, and senior investment analyst Aaron Yeoh.

The OC Mid-Cap Fund will seek to capitalise on the growth potential of mid-sized companies by providing investors with a diversified portfolio tailored to capture opportunities in the market segment.

It will join the firm’s three existing portfolios: the OC Premium Small Companies Fund, the OC Dynamic Equity Fund and the OC Micro-Cap Fund.

Lucas brings more than two decades of investment experience in Australian equities to the position. Prior to her appointment at OC, Lucas was a senior investment analyst at Australian Foundation Investment Company for 10 years.

Moreover, the investment professional holds a decade of experience at Goldman Sachs and HSBC as an equities analyst at both firms.

“We are thrilled to welcome Nga Lucas to OC Funds Management,” Frost said.

“Nga’s appointment reflects our commitment to attracting top-tier investment professionals to deliver outstanding results for our clients and strengthens our capabilities in the mid-cap space. She is a perfect fit for our team’s culture.”

Commenting on her appointment, Lucas described: “I am excited to join OC Funds Management and contribute to the development of the OC Mid-Cap Fund. The OC investment team is well known to me, and I see this as an exciting opportunity to leverage my investment expertise and contribute to the firm’s growth and success.”

Lucas’ addition to the investment team comes at an important time as the company looks to expand their product offerings and enhance their investment capabilities.

Last year, the OC Dynamic Equity Fund was nominated as a finalist for Money Management’s 2023 Fund Manager of the Year Awards in the Australian Small Cap Equities category.

For this year’s Fund Manager of the Year Awards hosted on 13 June 2024, the OC Premium Small Companies Fund has been nominated as a finalist in the Australian Small Cap Equities category.
