Investors keen on property

Investors appetite for investment property is on the rise with confidence high due to low interest rates, according to a new Mortgage Choice survey.
Mortgage Choice found one quarter of Australian homeowners were considering buying an investment property, with over half keen to get the ball rolling in the next two years.
"With lenders' interest rates on both home and investment property loans at their lowest point in recent years, it isn't altogether surprising," Mortgage Choice head of corporate affairs Belinda Williamson said.
One quarter of respondents already owned an investment property, with 19 per cent owning two and 13 per cent owning three or more.
Tenant demand and location were investors' main concerns (65 per cent and 66 per cent respectively) in regards to any new investment property, while proximity to amenities and entertainment, population growth in the area and planned infrastructure in the area rounded out the top five property considerations.
Most investors (59 per cent) wanted to choose an average property in an up-and-coming location.
