BetaShares is launching three thematic exchange traded funds themed around technology.

The firm issued information regarding electric vehicles, digital payments and video gaming products which it said would be “coming soon” to the Australian Securities Exchange.

The digital payments and electric vehicles funds would list on the ASX in December while the gaming one would list in 2022.

The funds would provide investors with a convenient, cost-effective way to invest in growth opportunities created by long-term megatrends via a single ETF.

The Electric Vehicles and Future Mobility ETF would hold firms such as Tesla and Uber and was centred on expected sales of electric vehicles and use of semiconductors in the future.

Future of Payments ETF would focus on innovative payment solutions and mobile payments via firms such as PayPal and Mastercard.

Finally, the Video Games and Esports ETF would invest in companies like Nintendo and Activision as video gaming generated more revenue than movies globally. BetaShares said there were no key gaming or esports companies in Australia and the global approach would enable investors to increase their portfolio diversification.

Chief executive, Alex Vynokur, said: “Next generation technologies for electric vehicles, digital payments, and video games are exciting opportunities that each in their own way have the potential to revolutionise the global economy.

“We’re excited to further expand our leading thematic ETF range and have plans to further broaden the universe of opportunities available for Australian investors.”

These were the latest technology ETFs for the firm, which already ran a Cloud Computing, Global Cybersecurity, and Global Robotics and Artificial Intelligence ETF, among others.
