BetaShares expands its distribution team
Exchange traded funds (ETFs) manager BetaShares has added Tania Smyth to its distribution team in response to record growth in the Australian ETF market.
BetaShares managing director, Alex Vynokur, said the ETF market in Australia had increased by $1.3 billion in total funds under management last month, which was "the strongest monthly growth" recorded by BetaShares to date.
"This newly-created role has been designed both in response to the fast growth of the ETF industry and to deepen the company's commitment to support Australian financial advisers through ETF education and client service."
Smyth has over 15 years of experience in financial services and joins BetaShares as national manager of adviser services, supporting financial advisers in their adoption of ETFs in client portfolios.
Prior to joining BetaShares, Smyth has held senior equity derivative distribution roles with the Commonwealth Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland and ABN AMRO to intermediaries and institutional clients.
The announcement comes in a spate of recent appointments by BetaShares including Thomas Reif as head of quantitative research and portfolio manager, Matthew Reeves, as compliance manager, and the promotion of Louis Crous to the position of chief investment officer.
