Betashares crowns top 10 ETFs for YTD inflows

The top 10 ETFs for highest inflows over 1H24 have been revealed by Betashares, as well as the products with the largest outflows.
In its half-yearly review of the ETF industry, the firm crowned the Betashares Australia 200 ETF as the top fund for inflows over the first half of the year at $1.1 billion. The overwhelming majority of funds seeing positive flows were either international or Australian equity funds, Betashares noted.
The top 10 ETFs by year-to-date inflows, as of 30 June, are as follows:

Largest outflows
In terms of ETFs with the greatest outflows, these were largely dominated by the Magellan Global Fund. Betashares noted: “It was another horrible half for Magellan’s Global Fund, which sustained large, albeit slowing, outflows over the period.”
The Magellan Global Fund (Open Class) (Managed Fund) bled $794.9 million in outflows over the half-year period, representing the highest decline in the ETF sector. This is in addition to $2.5 billion lost during 2023.
The top 10 ETFs by year-to-date outflows are as follows:
Product name | Outflow value |
Magellan Global Fund (Open Class) (Managed Fund) | $794.9 million |
Betashares Australian Sustainability Leaders ETF | $245.9 million |
iShares Edge MSCI World Minimum Volatility ETF | $187.7 million |
AB Managed Volatility Equities Fund (Managed Fund) | $180.0 million |

The Australian ETF industry surpassed $200 billion in assets under management in June 2024, according to both Betashares and recent Vanguard data.
Given the increasing rate of adoption of ETFs by investors and their financial advisers, Betashares believes the industry can hit $220 billion by the end of the year and increase to $500 billion by the end of 2030.
